Wrestling

Our motto: “There are no shortcuts to success!”

The Ships Wrestling program has a long history of creating not only state qualifiers and state champions, but student athletes that succeed well past the wrestling mat. Wrestling is a tough sport that teaches students how far a good work ethic can go. There are only two athletes competing and the athlete who works the hardest and wants it more almost always is victorious. The sport improves balance, coordination, body control, and being a healthier individual.

The season starts in November and finishes at the end of February at the WIAA State Championship. We host volunteer open-mat  opportunities throughout the summer as well as opportunities for camps. There is a varsity and junior varsity team but no athlete will ever be turned away. Practice is from 3:45-5:45pm in the Lincoln wrestling room in the JFK Fieldhouse.  Wrestling shoes and headgear are all that is needed and we can provide both if need be.

Head Coach: Tyler Wetenkamp

If you truly want to work hard and have the mentality to push through discomfort wrestling is your sport.
