FAQ Transcripted Credit

The General Chemistry course you are taking has been approved as a transcripted course through Lakeshore Technical College (LTC).  This means that the course LHS offers is considered the equivalent of the introductory chemistry course at LTC.  Through an agreement made between LHS and LTC, students are able fill out paperwork to enroll in the LTC course, which is then taught by approved teachers at Lincoln.  At the end of the course, the grades of enrolled students are submitted to both the office at Lincoln for report cards and the Career and Technical Manager at LTC.  This grade will appear on your LHS report card AND an LTC transcript, which you can then take to most UW schools for credit in specific chemistry courses.

Questions

  • Is enrollment with LTC required for this class?
    1. oNo.  If you choose not enroll for transcripted credit, you will still be able to take Chemistry; you just won’t have the opportunity to earn college credit.

  • How do I enroll in the transcripted course with LTC?
    • A High School Career Coach from LTC will come in within the first two weeks of class to fill out the forms with you.

  • Is there any cost for me?
    1. oNo. It is free to you!

  • How do I claim my credits?
    • If attending LTC after graduation, the transcript will be available at the school for registration purposes.  If attending another college, you must request an official transcript for LTC to be sent to that college.

  • What grade do I need to get to receive credit?
    • You must get a C or better to receive college credit

  • Are there any negatives to signing up for transcripted credit?
    • There are some things to consider when signing up for transcripted credit.  Your performance in this class not only affects your grade point average here at Lincoln; it also will be on your transcript and affect your GPA at the college you attend.  This means that without ever actually taking any classes at your college, you already have grades in.
